Surah Al-Waqiah is a Makkan surah that focuses on the Day of Judgment. The word “Waqiah” means the Day of Judgment, and this surah describes how people will be divided into three groups: the Companions of the Right, blessed with rewards; the Companions of the Left, punished for their deeds; and the Forerunners, closest to Allah and foremost in Paradise.

Beyond its reminder of the Hereafter, Surah Al-Waqiah is also believed to bring blessings and ease financial worries when recited. It teaches that worldly wealth is temporary and that true success lies in faith and good deeds.

 According to Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (RA), Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

 “Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqiah every night will never be afflicted by poverty.” {Shu’ab al-Iman, Ibn Asakir}.

Benefits of  Surah Al Waqiah

Now that we know the background of Surah Al-Waqiah, let’s look at its main benefits mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith. These benefits are of two types: spiritual benefits and financial benefits.

1. You Put Complete Faith in Allah

One of the main Spiritual benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is that it helps believers put their full trust in Allah. This surah teaches that wealth and success in this world are temporary, and real reliance should only be on Allah. When a person recites and reflects on Surah Al-Waqiah, their faith in Allah grows stronger, giving them peace of mind and spiritual strength.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: 

“If you rely on Allah as He should be relied upon, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They go out hungry in the morning and return with full stomachs in the evening.” (Tirmidhi)

2. Protection From poverty

One of the greatest financial benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is protection from poverty. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqiah every night will never experience hunger or need.” (Shu’ab al-Iman, Ibn Asakir)

It teaches that Allah is the true Provider, and reciting the Qur’an brings blessings in wealth.”

3. Guiding The Believer On  The Right Path

One of the Spiritual benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is that it guides believers to the straight path. It reminds them of the Day of Judgment and helps them see the difference between right and wrong. The surah teaches that true success is in faith and good deeds, not in worldly wealth. 

As the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

4.  Find Comfort Under the Trees of Jannah

One of the Spiritual benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is that it gives a glimpse of Jannah, where the believers will enjoy peace and rest under the shade of trees. It reminds us that the hardships of this world are temporary, while the rewards of jannah are everlasting. 

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: 

‘In Paradise, there is a tree whose shade a rider could travel under for a hundred years without crossing it.’ (Bukhari, Muslim)”

5. Intercession on the Day of Judgement:

One of the Spiritual  benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is that it shows how the Qur’an can intercede for its reciters on the Day of Judgment. Reciting this surah regularly encourages believers to do good deeds and stay strong in faith, which may help them and others on the Day of Judgment.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: 

“The Qur’an will intercede for its reciters on the Day of Judgment.” (Sahih Muslim, 814)

6. Blessings in Wealth and Sustenance

One of the financial benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is that reciting it regularly brings blessings in a person’s wealth and sustenance. It reminds believers that true provision comes from Allah, and earning in a halal way increases barakah (blessings) in their livelihood.

7. Significance of Righteous Actions

One of the Spiritual benefits of Surah Al-Waqiah is that it reminds every believer that all actions will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment. Those who perform good deeds will be rewarded according to their actions, while those who commit bad deeds will be punished accordingly.

Benefits of Reciting Surah Al-Waqiah 41 Times

By reciting this Surah 41 times, one will never face a shortage in sustenance, their financial situation will improve, and they will achieve many successes in life.If a person is facing a difficulty and cannot see any possible way out, then after offering the Maghrib prayer, they should recite Surah Al-Waqiah 41 times, along with Durood Shareef at the beginning and end, for three consecutive days. Allah (SWT) will remove their difficulties.

Best Time to Recite Surah Al-Waqiah:

Surah Al-Waqiah is a very beautiful and guiding chapter of the Quran. You can easily include its recitation in your daily life because it takes very little time to read. Our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised his entire Ummah to recite this Surah every night. You can read it after Isha before going to sleep or between Maghrib and Isha. Regular recitation at this time is said to protect from poverty, increase sustenance, and bring blessings in daily life. It also strengthens faith and reminds believers to prepare for the Hereafter.


The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqiah every night will never be afflicted by poverty.”
